My Biography
(or the story of my life!)I was born August 8, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Paul and Loretta Chasteen. My father was an Army officer, so we moved every one to three years. I lived in many states as well as in Germany twice. I ended up going to four different high schools.
I have an older sister, Deb, a younger sister, Jann, and a younger brother, Jim.
At eighteen, I got married. At that time, we lived in Northern Virginia. I had my daughter, Denise, when I was 19 and my son, Michael, when I was twenty-one. You might say that I literally grew up with my children.
I was only married for five years and then separated from my husband. Within two years, I met and married my current husband, Paul. We met at the Social Security office where we both worked in Alexandria, Virginia.
Within a year of our marriage, we moved to Salisbury, Maryland. We chose this area since it was less than thirty minutes from Ocean City, Maryland, and I also had a girlfriend who lived nearby. Three years was all I could take of the small-town atmosphere, and we moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where we lived for nineteen years.
My children grew up and left Winston-Salem. After getting out of the Navy, my daughter, Denise, settled in the West Palm Beach, Florida area to be with her fiancé and go to school. In March of 1999, she and her then husband, Ken, made me a grandmother. Thankfully, by the time my granddaughter, Sarah, was seven months old, Paul and I were able to move down to Florida. Our second granddaughter, Rebecca was born on November 14, 2002.
We moved to Knoxville, TN in anticipation that Denise, Ken, Sarah & Rebecca would be moving to Knoxville. That didn't work out, so after two years in Knoxville, we decided to move back to South Florida. However, we moved to Palm Beach Gardens and are now only 3 1/2 miles from Denise.
